In the world of meditation and mindfulness the phrase ‘body scan’ often refers to a led meditation where people are guided through different aspects of body awareness. By focusing the attention on the sensations in the body, the mind arrives more in the present moment and can get some respite from habitual thought cycles. Below is a recording of a body scan I recently introduced in a mindfulness taster session with group of staff members of an A&E Department in a London hospital.
